Andreae format leads 5 Star's move into original commissioning

Viacom’s 5 Star has moved into original commissioning for the first time, including the debut show from Simon Andreae’s new indie.

The broadcaster has ordered a trio of youth-skewing series, including 100% Hotter from Naked Entertainment, Andreae’s Fremantle Media-backed firm.

The 20 x 30-minute make-under format sees a group of experts strip away contributors’ fake tans, falsies and hair extensions to find out what the public really think of them.

It is exec produced by Naked’s Andreae and Mike Warner.

5 Star has recently been rebranded to to focus on younger audiences, and has also ordered Strip Date from Boomerang and Sex Pod from Crackit Productions.

Strip Date, produced by the ITV-owned Welsh indie, sees two single people with very different styles tone down their individuality before dating.

Finally, Sex Pod, is a 10 x 60-minute series that busts body woes and sex myths that plague the British public.

The three series were commissioned by channel managers Sebastian Cardwell and Gemma Hewlett.

“These new commissions reinforce the exciting strategic journey we’re undertaking at 5 Star, developing edgy and entertaining content that will appeal to a younger audience,” said Cardwell. “The channel will make a great home for these fun, engaging and compelling new commissions.”
