Naked to remake The Rap Game for the UK

Fact ent production company Naked has optioned a UK remake of The Rap Game from A+E Networks’s Lifetime.

 Naked is developing a British version of the format that will switch the genre from Rap to Grime, showcasing an up and coming generation of talented UK Grime MC’s - all competing for a meaningful record deal.

The entertainment show, now in its fifth season in the US, sees host Jermaine Dupri coach, test and then ultimately select rap’s next superstar.    

The Grime Game (working title) has no eliminations and is shot like a documentary.  Joined by their managers in a residential recording studio, the musicians – each of whom already has a major following online - must spin their own life stories into hooks and bars, trying to catch the attention of Grime’s biggest and most influential stars in the process.

The US edition of The Rap Game holds A+E Networks’ Lifetime’s biggest share of 18-34 year olds among its series. The reality series first launched in 2016 and follows five young rappers from all walks of life as they move into a house together and perform each week, competing for the ultimate prize of a recording contract with Dupri's So So Def Recordings. Over the series, contestants have been coached by some of the biggest stars in US rap and hip hop such as Queen Latifah, Ludacris, T.I, Da Brat and Usher.
