Naked behind trio of royal docs for 5
Camilla, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, and Sarah Ferguson subjects for Fremantle label Naked’s doc Elizabeth and Philip: A Royal Fairytale (w/t) examines the late queen’s 73-year marriage Naked is producing a trio of documentaries about key royal figures for 5. Camilla: Of the People for the People (w/t) is a 90-minute single about her rise in popularity from when she was once branded the most hated woman in Britain to her ascent to Queen Consort. This doc aims to reveal the human behind the headlines and celebrate a woman who, according to the indie, has reshaped what it means to be a royal – weathering tabloid scandals and national tragedies during her 50-year relationship with King Charles. Fellow 90-minute single Elizabeth and Philip: A Royal Fairytale (w/t) examines the 73-year marriage of the late monarch and Duke of Edinburgh. It will revisit definitive moments that shaped both their relationship and the monarchy, and which anchored the royal family through decades of change. Rounding out the royal slate is Fergie and the Fake Sheikh Scandal, an hour-long single looking back at the allegations made in an undercover film of Mazher Mahmood, posing as the ‘Fake Sheikh’, which appeared to show former Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson allegedly offering access to her ex-husband and former prince Andrew in exchange for £500,000. All three docs will feature archive footage testimony and various insights from biographers, historians and journalists. The trio is produced by Naked and Krempelwood and were commissioned by Federico Ruiz, commissioning editor, 5/Paramount. Nicola Lloyd exec produces for Naked, alongside Blair Krempel and Mark Wood for Krempelwood. Lloyd said: “The royal family has long captivated audiences not just in the UK but across the globe, and these films explore their stories in a way that’s both revealing and richly entertaining.” Fergie and the Fake Sheikh Scandal airs on Saturday 17 January at 9.20pm on 5
