Talkback Thames, Naked & TLC Deal a Winning Hand with Top Trumps Comedy Television Series

Katherine Ryan hosts alongside team captains Joel Dommett and Jon Richardson in an all-new TLC comedy entertainment format

Fremantle UK’s Talkback Thames, with Naked, have secured a commission from TLC to reimagine the popular card game Top Trumps in a comedy-first take, featuring an all-star cast of comedians, in a new 8x60’ series - Top Trumps: The Comedy Pack (w/t).

Hosted by comedy legend Katherine Ryan, the series will see much-loved telly favourites Joel Dommett and Jon Richardson lead the charge as team captains, joined by some of the UK’s funniest comedians.  

Battling it out in a series of hilarious head-to-heads, Top Trumps: The Comedy Pack (w/t) will see two teams take on classic card face-offs, live studio challenges and bluffing games, inspired by the iconic game. Drawing on the thousands of themes featured across Top Trumps' ever-expanding range of decks, each round promises quick wit, fast-paced competition and plenty of laughs as the card game is reimagined as a studio comedy  format for the now free-to-air entertainment channel TLC.

Katherine Ryan, host of Top Trumps: The Comedy Pack (w/t) says: “Everyone knows Top Trumps, but no one has ever played it quite like this. We’re taking this iconic game and supersizing it into something bigger, louder and much funnier. And with Jon and Joel captaining rival teams, chaos is pretty much guaranteed.”

Jon Richardson says: “For too long the world has been led to believe that there are no good Trumps, so I'm delighted to be on a show that celebrates the very best of them. I'm a sucker for a game with clear rules and a winner at the end so Top Trumps has always made sense to me. Let's see whether careful planning can beat sheer enthusiasm once and for all.”

Joel Dommet adds: “Top Trumps and me have a lot in common - it’s fun, simple and older than you think. I used to get very excited playing Top Trumps back in the day, and now I get to play it on the telly with two famously un-excitable comedians Kathrine Ryan and Jon Richardson. It really gonna be a blast.”

Top Trumps: The Comedy Pack (w/t) will air on TLC in early 2027. Developed by Tom O’Brien, the series is Executive Produced by Director of Comedy, Kate Edmunds for Talkback Thames with Naked.
